Co-products, skins & leather The deer is regarded as a symbol of health and longevity in oriental medicine, and while there are approximately 25 parts of the animal which have specific medical uses, the New Zealand industry currently collects relatively few. Co-products such as tails, pizzles, sinews and blood products are significant export earners for the deer industry. For detailed export statistics click here. Most co-products are exported in an unprocessed form to Hong Kong where they are processed or traded for processing in Taiwan or mainland China. |
